Dear Friend,
Welcome to my substack! I’m Jake, and I’m glad you’re here.
Here you’ll find written musings and thoughts that are currently bashing around my brain. Between a twitter post and an article, this public journal will be a meaningfully curated collection of casual reflections and stories. The theme is a simple question, “What’s on your mind?” For me, this question represents intentionality with the present moment by pausing to reflect on life’s experiences.
I’ve found that when I write things out, I can appreciate life more fully with a clarity of mind. Writing helps me to grasp my thoughts, giving me a deeper feeling of self-understanding and, sometimes, order in my otherwise chaotic life. It’s as if there is a puzzle beneath my conscious mind, and its form gets closer to the elusive “bigger picture,” piece by piece, every time I write.
My intention with this project is to inspire both myself and others to reinvigorate our child-like curiosity while cultivating a genuine appreciation for life. I hope to create a space where thoughts, ideas, and experiences (stories) are given time and can be shared with one another, shaping us to be more mindful human beings, and making life a little bit less concerning and intimidating as we drift ceaselessly into the unknown.
And with that,
What’s on your mind?
What did this post make you think of? What is something that’s currently bashing around in your brain?
Feel free to share, leave a comment, or reach out to me!
Godspeed,
Jake
On my mind is belief. Today my coach and I discussed philosophy of religion and what it means to take that leap toward theism or atheism. To me, it seems like regardless of the argument, there’s always a subjective leap past that last, inconclusive thought. Right before you reach the absolute truth, both sides must settle with what we’re capable of understanding and choose what to be convinced of. A beautiful illustration of free will and the power of belief.
